Robert Wm. Sloat has practiced business and real estate law since 1978.  He received the Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School in 1978, after graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in 1975 from Seattle Pacific University.  He was Managing and Executive Editor of, and published an article in, The Harvard Journal on Legislation.

Mr. Sloat began practicing law with a prominent Los Angeles firm then known as Agnew, Miller & Carlson.  He moved his practice to Pasadena in 1981, where he helped found a ten-attorney firm, becoming Managing Partner, and then established his individual law practice in 1986.  His business experience includes commercial real estate brokerage, investment analysis for a real estate firm, and producing and distributing a motion picture.

Based upon his reputation in the legal community, Mr. Sloat has received an AV rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory, their highest rating of legal abilities and ethical standards.  Avvo rates him 10.0 Superb.  Pasadena Magazine named him among their Top Attorneys in 2011, 2012, and 2013.

A 51-year resident of Pasadena, Mr. Sloat has been active in the community as a member of the Pasadena Bar Association (Real Property Section Chairman 1998-2000), the Tournament of Roses (1989-present), and the Pasadena Unified School District school bond Citizens' Oversight Committee (2000-2004), together with other civic, church, and family pursuits with his wife and three children.
